Drilling of Boreholes in Sub-Saharan Africa

Access to clean and safe drinking water is a basic human right, yet millions of people in Sub-Saharan Africa lack this basic necessity. The lack of access to clean water can lead to serious health issues, particularly for vulnerable populations such as children and the elderly. American & Sub-Saharan CDC's borehole drilling initiative seeks to provide communities in need with reliable access to clean water. We work with local partners to identify areas where access to clean water is limited, and then drill boreholes and install hand pumps to provide communities with a sustainable source of clean water. By providing communities with access to clean water, we can help to prevent waterborne illnesses and improve the overall health of communities in Sub-Saharan Africa.
